Children fascinate me. They are so honest and full of wonder and profoundly present every moment. They do not judge; they only observe. They have zero capacity for worry, and so everything they do they do with audacity and pluck. They are the ideal spiritual creatures, and that makes them a JOY to photograph. They remind me that every one of us was once a child, and that child still lives within us, either near the surface or farther down. Capturing a slice of the infinite permutations of looks that parents and children exchange with each other and with the world at large is a new privilege every single time.
